Biqi is the most widely distributed and planted in China. It is named because the fruit is purple-black and resembles water chestnut (Chinese name: Biqi) when ripe. It is also called Yuyao yangmei. This variety has the characteristics of wide adaptability, early fruiting and high yield. It can show early fruiting and high yield performance under the production conditions of multiple regions and multiple environments. It is the main variety promoted in China.
The tree has moderate vigor, a relatively neat crown, a semi-circular or round head shape, and a relatively short tree shape. The fruit is medium-sized, with a single fruit weighing 10.7 grams.
