Beautiful vintage mesh/chainlink bag from Whiting & Davis in matte gold. The style of the Talon zipper pull indicates it was likely made in the 1940s.
The tiles of the mesh are in excellent condition, the front/sides of the bag and a panel inside appear are a type of leather (uncertain if it’s vinyl or not), it has a golden chain strap, and it’s lined in a silky burgundy material. There is slight fraying of the lining on the upper edges near the chain strap, and the lining itself looks pretty good (TBH I was afraid of damaging it by attempting to clean it). Part of the tag has been cut off.
The two gussets are separated inside by the leather panel with an ID pocket and topped with a golden bar, matching the golden bar that is on the front bottom of the flap. The back gusset includes an open pocket. Snaps closed. Measures approx. 7” x 10”, with a 14” drop.
