Vintage Large Toshiba Wallmount AM Transistor Radio 7TH-425 Knicknamed “The Fan”

This rare Vintage Toshiba “Fan” transistor radio is unique. First, it’s heavy and large, at over a foot diameter. Second, the good-looking styling of it reminds me of the older tube radios, that like-wise used Bakelite and speaker fabric. Finally, it has a pull chain on/off switch…making it further resemble a wall fan. How interesting! Right?

What’s great about this one is it still works! It takes a minute to warm up, but I am able to tune several stations in nice and loud. But it goes without saying that the knobs and buttons in vintage radios are often touchy and benefit from a few squirts of electrical cleaning spray. Also, the tuning dial on this one is not original, but works just fine. Not a big deal.

If you’re a collector, and you display some or all of your radios, you’ll love that a sturdy steel hanging plate is fitted to the rear of this fan for hanging it on the wall. It would look great with your collection or in your MCM living room. Takes 4 D Batteries, not included.
