A brass whistle for commanding officers, adopted in the 1940s and 50s.
Plastic whistles were included in survival kits or issued to enlisted personnel, and are listed separately.
Marked "REGULATION U.S.ARMY SOLID BRASS"
While MILITARY and OFFICIAL stamped types are relatively common, those with the ARMY stamp are considered rare.
The cork ball is intact and the whistle still works.
Chain not included, whistle only.
It has minor scratches and dirt consistent with its age, but is in relatively good condition, especially considering many no longer produce sound.
