Universal Genève Unisonic ref. 853106 In 1965, Bulova impressed the world with its Accutron 218 movement, the first wristwatch movement precise enough to guarantee an accuracy of 2 seconds per day. The Universal Geneve saw a great potential in this and decided to implement this movement a decade before the Quartz Revolution. But Universal Geneve simply couldn’t just take Bulova’s movement and place it into their case. Universal Geneve decided to produce most of the parts, and the parts they couldn’t produce were at least finished in Switzerland. This huge attention to detail made Unisonic one of that period's most expensive electronic watches. To honour this partnership, the new logo was created combining the UG symbol with the symbol of a turning fork. This watch comes from this line of watches, but thanks to its very specific rectangular curved case, it stands out from the rest. Unfortunately, I was unable to find any more information about this specific reference, 853106. Nonetheless it is a stunning example of US innovations meeting Swiss craftmanship.
