A collection of works by Thomas Demand, a German artist based in Berlin and Los Angeles. Published in conjunction with a large-scale exhibition held at the Kunsthaus Bregenz in Austria from September to November 2004, it includes 66 works created between 1993 and 2004.

The artist's photographic works appear to capture seemingly ordinary spaces such as kitchens, copy shops, and parking lots, but upon closer observation, it becomes clear that they are recreations of the real world. The artist meticulously creates life-size environments using paper and cardboard, capturing every detail, and then photographs these "reproductions" before destroying them. The resulting photographs accurately point out the bland and sterile aesthetic of the modern office world and architecture.

This sculptural and cinematic simulation, devoid of any human presence, invites us into its model world. The "falsity" of this reality merges with our memories of the real world, creating vivid and serene images, and explores the concept of virtual reality, which plays an important role in the multimedia age.
