Edwin M. Knowles, started his pottery company in Chester, West Virginia in 1900. He later expanded into Newell in 1913. Both locations made Knowles dinnerware until the early 1930s when Harker took over production at the Chester plant. The Newell plant continued to make dinnerware until 1963.


he Chester plant was destroyed by fire in 1975.


Edwin Knowles GRAPEVINE SQUARE FRONT with C Cup handles the saucers are a RARE SQUARE Shape in Pristine MINT condition. One cup has a manufacturing blemish or maybe a chip as seen in photo, they may also have manufactured blemishes like sand bumps. These are very old and very beautiful.

These are beyond RARE most were made in the round shape saucer, we live in Chester Wv, and these were crafted at the Knowles plant in either Chester or Newel Wv in or around 1951. No longer in production.
