This is a vintage Seiko Sports 100 quartz from the late 1970s—a prime example of Seiko’s bold integrated bracelet designs that rivaled (and some say inspired) the luxury sport watch aesthetic of that era.
A cushion-shaped case with an octagonal bezel featuring gold accents and six decorative screws. The integrated bracelet design is classic ‘70s futurism—angular, masculine, and distinctive. The silver sunburst dial has applied gold-tone indices, day-date complication at 3 o’clock, and that iconic Seiko “S” logo.
Based on the caseback (reference 8229-6019), this is running Seiko’s caliber 8229 quartz movement—robust, accurate, and typical of Seiko’s early quartz dominance. The “Sports 100” designation indicates 100-meter water resistance, making it a versatile daily wearer for its time.
The integrated bracelet, cushion case, and decorative bezel screws were direct responses to the Royal Oak and Nautilus aesthetic—Seiko’s way of saying “we can do luxury sport too.”
