A Die Clash occurs when the obverse and reverse dies strike each other without a planchet in between. This crashing action forces the design elements of one die onto the surface of the other, which then transfers to every subsequent coin struck.
The Error Explained: "Ghost Profile" Die Clash
The reverse side (the "ONE DIME" wreath) displays a distinct, incuse (raised) impression of Liberty's portrait.
