The N-1 deck jacket was officially adopted by the U.S. Navy in 1943 and is a well-known winter military jacket, alongside the U.S. Air Force's N-3B flight jacket and the U.S. Army's M-65 mod coat. The cotton grosgrain fabric, called "jungle cloth," with vertical ribs, is a domestically produced fabric specially developed to reproduce the N-1. Also, the alpaca lining on the inside uses a very luxurious 100% alpaca.
