JOE STRUMMER & THE MESCALEROS, formed in '99 by JOE STRUMMER, the frontman of CLASH. This 3rd album, which JOE was working on until shortly before his death, was released by HELLCAT, known for RANCID. This analog record is a bargain, released in 2012, and includes a remastered CD!
This album is arguably the best work of Joe Strummer, who passed away in December 2002, and perhaps best expresses the music he wanted to create after the CLASH disbanded!! This is well represented in songs like "Coma Girl," "Get Down Moses," and "All in A Day." "Long Shadow" is a song about the American legend Johnny Cash, and the cover of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" was produced by Rick Rubin and recorded in Cash's studio. Joe's voice, which is as good as the original, touches the heart. Honestly, I think this album is worth buying just for this one song.
