George Jones & Sons Staffordshire England 8.5" square salad plate c.1930 in the Rhapsody pattern. Embossed design of ferns and flowers around the wide rim, center depicts a scenic country view of wheat gatherers wearing period clothing with their dogs. The rare signature of the artist is in the right-hand corner. Great depth in the transfer design; I needed a magnifying glass to see it all!
Two women gatherers stand in the foreground with a dog and a young boy, while carrying the wheat on their shoulders. Two men harvest the field below. A church and a field of cattle are in the distance. The rim has a wide border of embossed flowers and ferns the edge is trimmed in black.
