Carpenter bees are a devastating pest similar to termites. One bee can ruin the exterior wood on a house in just one season. This is a simple, economical way to control them.
This Carpenter bee catch uses plastic bottles as opposed to glass jars. Any standard plastic bottle will fit. When the bottle is full you simply cap it off and toss in the trash. Then slide in another. This is a great way to reuse your plastic bottles.
The catch itself is made of untreated whitewood because carpenter bees love this type of wood.
HOW IT WORKS: A carpenter bee crawls through the entrance into the center hole. The entrance holes are drilled at a specific angle to limit the amount of light coming into the center hole. When they decide to exit they will crawl toward the brightest light source which will be coming through the clear bottle. Once inside they are trapped and will then attract even more.
