The hands move freely. The alarm works when you move the hands around and set the alarm. Take to a clock repairman to have fixed or fix yourself if you have that skill. It’s a very unique item. It has a very loud alarm. Kind of sounds like a school bell. It is a wind up unit. These clocks were very popular back in the day. Don’t worry you won’t sleep through this alarm. It’s worth getting fixed that is why I’m selling it. It’s just a unique piece and would look good on display in your home even if you don’t fix it. It’s pretty heavy made in the United States of America. I’m only listing this in poor condition because it needs repaired. Otherwise, the clock itself is in very good condition for its age. I believe it has a glass face, but not sure of that.
