This is a very nice hand carved wooden African elephant. I do not know what kind of wood this is, it is various degrees of brown- it almost looks like mohagany. She stands 5" tall and is about 4.5 " long. She does have a crack that runs from the bottom of her left ear down and around her front left leg. It does not appear to be catastrophic. If you collect carved wooden animals she would make a great addition. I don't believe that the elephants with the trunk up are the ones who bring good luck- usually if their trunk is up they are trying to kill you.
