This is the first book club edition, early (not numbered) printing hardcover copy of "2001: A Space Odyssey" by Arthur C. Clarke (New American Library, 1968). The gutter code "2K" indicates a January 1969 printing, shortly after the first printing with code "31J." This iconic science fiction novel is based on the screenplay for the film written by Clarke and Stanley Kubrick. The copy is in very good condition with mild shelf wear to the jacket. The boards are straight and clean, though corners are slightly bumped. The binding is firm and the spine is straight. A previous owner's inscription is on the reverse side of the front free endpaper. The bottom outer edge of the text block has some faint waviness, likely from humidity exposure. Pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. See photos for condition.
